OBITUARY.

James Benton THOMPSON was born in Liberty township May 7th, 1855, and died at West Plains, Mo., October 4th, from heart failure caused by the shock of a runaway. He was first married to Ada J. WORLEY. Three children were born of this union. A daughter preceded the father in death, while two sons, Fred of Garden City, Kan., and Grover of Deerfield, Mo., survive. He was later married to Bird K. FULLER. Three sons were born of this union. One died in infancy, while Commodore and Fayette are at home with the mother. He also leaves six brothers -- Silas of Birmingham, Walter and Simon of Sumner, Clarke of Garner, Omer of Norwood, Col., Avery of Denver, Col., and two sisters, Mrs. Minnie McQUIRE of Hutchinson, Kan., and Mrs. Ella CLARK of Belpre, Kan. Mrs. CLARK, Walter and the son Grover and Mrs. THOMPSON accompanied the body to Libertyville, where it was taken to the home of H. D. Davis. The funeral was held there Thursday at 9 a.m., by Rev. W. C. Crowther of Birmingham. Interment was made in Hebron cemetery (sic - Switzer Cemetery).
