Alice Elizabeth Redlinger

Alice Elizabeth Redlinger, 84, of Maplewood Manor in Keota and formerly of East Pleasant Plain, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2004, at Maplewood Manor.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Trinity Parish-St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Harper, with the Rev. Marty Goetz officiating. Burial will be in St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Harper.

Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Keota. A Christian Wake Service will be held at 7 p.m.

Memorials have been established to American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association and Maplewood Manor.

Mrs. Redlinger was born Nov. 23, 1919, near East Pleasant Plain, the daughter of Michael E. and Gertrude Elizabeth Arndt Fritz. She married Bernard Michael Redlinger June 15, 1943, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain.

She grew up in the East Pleasant Plain community and graduated from Brighton High School. After receiving her teaching certificate from Parsons College, she taught five years in rural schools. She and her husband made their home in Harper. She was a resident of Maplewood Manor for three weeks until her death.

Mrs. Redlinger was a member of Holy Trinity Parish-St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Harper, in which she was an officer, and served as president and secretary of the Altar and Rosary Society.

She enjoyed spending time with family and gardening.

Survivors include her husband; five daughters, Carol Kurtz and husband Kenneth of Brighton, Marjorie Weeber and husband Tom of Iowa City, Mary Sevcik and husband Craig of Solon, Karen Kennedy of Cedar Rapids and Linda Richardson and husband Randy of Keota; three sons, William Redlinger and wife Beverly of Des Moines, Robert Redlinger of Marion and Bernard Redlinger and wife Madeline of Colorado Springs, Colo.; 15 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marian Redlinger of Harper and Loretta Schneider of Washington, Iowa; and four brothers, Cletus Fritz of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Walter Fritz, Sylvester Fritz and Robert Fritz, all of Brighton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Richard Fritz and John Fritz.
