Janet Morgan STORMYR, 101, of Pompano Beach, Florida, passed away on June 16, 2016, in the home of her daughter in Chocorua, New Hampshire. The celebration of her life will be at a later date in Florida with family members.
Janet was born on May 31, 1915 in Allentown, Pennsylvania, the fourth child of Albert and Sarah SCHMOYER. She graduated from Allentown High School and Allentown Business College. She then worked as a bookkeeper for Mack Trucking Company and spent summers at a camp in the Pocono Mountains where she met Kenneth STORMYR.
They were united in marriage in 1946 at the Palmer House in Chicago, Illinois. Kenneth and Janet lived in Indiana, then New York and then moved to Libertyville, Illinois where they raised their three daughters: Sigrid, Sally, and Nancy.
Janet laughed often, lived to the fullest, and was devoted to her family. She loved knitting, sewing, reading, many sports, cribbage, bridge, canasta, and socializing with family and friends.
Janet and Kenneth traveled to many countries and toured much of the United States with their daughters.
Upon the passing of her husband, Kenneth in 1988, Janet moved to their home in Pompano Beach, Florida. She loved the beach, whether it be walking or collecting shells. Her home there continues to be a gathering place for her family which now includes her grandchildren; Inger (Jack), Stacy (Callie), Kenny, Eric, Emily, and Keith, and her great-grandchildren, Jack, Jimmy, John, Annabelle, and Morgan, and her nieces, nephew, and their families.
In her later life Janet moved between her home and her children's home in Pompano Beach, Fairfield and Chocorua.
Janet is survived by her children; Sigrid MOORE (William) of Fairfield, Iowa, Sally BACHMAN (Stan) of Chocorua, New Hampshire, and her grand-children, and great-grandchildren.
Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, her daughter Nancy Gwen STANTON, her parents, and her sisters-Katherine, Helen, and Ruth.
Memorials may be given to the Christian Education Program at the First Presbyterian Church - 200 Main Street Fairfield, Iowa or Visiting Nurse Home Care & Hospice PO Box 432 North Conway, NH 03860.
