JoAnn GLOTFELTY PEDRICK

JoAnn GLOTFELTY PEDRICK spent most of her adult life in the Phoenix area and grew to love the Southwest, but she often expressed her love for Iowa and said later in life, "if it weren't for the ice in winter, I'd move back!" As the organized and considerate person she was, JoAnn wrote her own obituary for publication in the Arizona Republic. She didn't want to include a picture, though her family disagrees, because she was a beautiful woman to the end. Since she was born in Libertyville, grew up in Denison and married a Fairfield native (Willard H. PEDRICK), her devoted family felt it appropriate to share the following with the Fairfield community.

JoAnn GLOTFELTY PEDRICK, 89, left this realm January 6, 2016. She lived at The Terraces of Phoenix Retirement Community. Her beloved husband, Prof. Willard H. PEDRICK (Ped), Founding Dean of the ASU Law School, preceded her in death in 1996. Although she was educated as a psychiatric social worker, Dr. PEDRICK was involved in many areas of practice throughout her career. She taught social work at six schools including Boston University, Simmons College, Rutgers, ASU and two universities in Perth, Australia, where she and her husband spent several sabbaticals "down under". She enjoyed working for the State of Arizona as Executive Director of the Governor's Advisory Council on Aging, traveling the world and attending many occasions where family members were honored for their accomplishments. She said she had a very fortunate life. There will be a graveside service for immediate family only (arranged by Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, Iowa) in Jefferson County, Iowa, where both she and her husband were born. The family will then proceed to a private reception in Fairfield on Saturday, June 25, 2016.

JoAnn was also preceded in death by her parents, Warner A. and Inez (HOFFMAN) GLOTFELTY. She is survived by her brothers, Dr. Robert W. GLOTFELY of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Dr. Charles H. (Bonnie) GLOTFELTY of Ames, Iowa, and their families; stepchildren Bill (Susan) PEDRICK of Erie, CO, Sara PEDRICK of Donnellson, IA, Dan (Gayle) PEDRICK of Albuquerque, NM, and Margo PEDRICK of Fairfield, IA, and their families.

Memorial contributions can be made to the "ASU Foundation" (JoAnn and Willard H. Pedrick Scholarship Fund) and sent to the family c/o Margo PEDRICK, 1705 Ayodhya Ave., Apt. 2, Fairfield, IA 52556. This annual scholarship will go to an International Law student at the Sandra Day O'Connor School of Law at ASU.
