Marguerite ARCHIBALD

Marguerite ARCHIBALD, 93, of Keosauqua, died at 11:25 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2016, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

In accord with her wishes, the body has been cremated. A memorial service will be 3 p.m. July 3, 2016, at Keosauqua Congregational Church, with the Rev. Herb Shafer officiating. Burial will be in Miller Chapel Cemetery in Keosauqua.

Memorials to Keosauqua Congregational Church or the charity of the donor's choice can be left at the church or mailed to the family at PO Box 100, Keosauqua 52565.

Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua is handling the arrangements.

Mrs. ARCHIBALD was born Jan. 24, 1923, in rural Stockport, the daughter of John L. and Justina BOHUN DOWNARD. She married Walter ARCHIBALD July 6, 1948. He died Aug. 30, 1993.

Mrs. ARCHIBALD grew up in the Stockport and Keosauqua areas and graduated from Keosauqua High School in 1940.

She spent her adult life in Keosauqua.

She was a homemaker while her children were young. Once they were in school, she worked at Van Buren County Assessor's Office, from which she retired.

She was a member of Keosauqua Congregational Church, Garden Club, Legion Auxiliary and Riverview Country Club,. all in Keosauqua, and a 50-year member of Order of Eastern Star, now in Douds.

She enjoyed gardening, playing cards and traveling; she visited many countries.

Survivors include: two sons, Richard ARCHIBALD and wife Sheila of Kona, Hawaii, and Ron ARCHIBALD and wife Lisa of Bluffton, South Carolina; three daughters, Linda GOLDSTEIN and husband Jay of Keosauqua, Ann CORIASCO and husband Peter of Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia, and Janis OVERBEY and husband Ben of Crown Point, Indiana; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Robert DOWNARD of Ankeny.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: six brothers, Kenneth, Orlen, Roy, John Beam, Verne and Dale DOWNARD; and three sisters, Francis DANNEIL, Ruth VICKERMAN and Bertie LERCHE.

Visitation with family will be 3-3:30 p.m. Sunday at the church prior to the service.
