Ruth MITCHELL, 96, of Fairfield and formerly of Packwood, died Thursday evening, April 28, 2016, at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Ruth MITCHELL, age 96 of Fairfield died Thursday evening April 28, 2016 at the Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.
Ruth was born November 11, 1919 at Clarence, Iowa, the daughter of Walter J. and Blanche KENT LEINBAUGH. She grew up in the Clarence community and received her teacher's certificate from Iowa Teachers College at Cedar Falls, Iowa.
She married Roy M. MITCHELL on December 1, 1945 at the First Methodist Church in Iowa City. They lived all of their married life in rural Fairfield.
Ruth was a farm wife.
She was a school teacher at Hedrick, Mt. Pleasant and Packwood and was a part of the Pekin tutor Popcorn Readers.
Ruth was a member of the Packwood Methodist Church and then Packwood Christian Church. She was a member of T.T.T. for over 50 years, a Sunday School teacher, C.W.F. and volunteered at The Lord's Cupboard in Fairfield.
Deceased family members include her parents and 1 sister Edythe BARLON.
Surviving are her husband Roy, 4 children: Steve and wife Karyn MITCHELL of St. Charles, Illinois, Michael MITCHELL of Batavia, Rob and wife Lori MITCHELL of Fairfield, and Julie MITCHELL CRAIG and husband Don of Marion, Iowa, 2 grandsons: Matt MITCHELL and wife Pam RUNESTAD-MITCHELL of Omaha, NE, and Aaron MITCHELL of Iowa City; and one great granddaughter Aurora Ruth RUNESTAD-MITCHELL.
Ruth's funeral service be at (sic) 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Packwod Christian Church in Packwood with Pastor Frosty Van Voorst officiating.
Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Monday prior to service time at the church.
Memorials may be made to The Lord's Cupboard or the Packwood Christian Church.
Burial will be in the Packwood Cemetery.
Raymond Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
