Frances Augusta ROLAND, 92, formerly of Jefferson County, died Monday, Apgil 25, 2016, at the Good Samaritan Society in Indianola (note: in Warren Co., IA).
The Overton Funeral Home of Indianola is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, followed by a service at 3 p.m. Cremation will follow the services, and burial of cremains will be held at a later date in the Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa (note: in Washington Co., IA).
A memorial has been set up in Mrs. ROLAND's name for macular degeneration. Online condolences can be made at www.overtonfunerals.com.

Frances Augusta ROLAND, 92, died Monday, April 25, 2016, at the Good Samaritan Society in Indianola.
A service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Cremation will follow, and burial of cremains will be at a later date in Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington, Iowa.
Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service, at the funeral home.

Mrs. ROLAND was born April 29, 1923, in Jefferson County, the daughter of Floyd and Eva BOWER. She married Henry T. ROLAND Jan. 1, 1946, at his grandmother's farm. He died in 2009.
She attended Lockridge grade school and graduated from Fairfield High School. She attended Parsons College. She worked as a dental assistant for Dr. A. H. Singley in Fairfield during World War II.
After their marriage, the ROLANDs lived in Fairfield until they moved near Washington, Iowa, where they lived in several different homes. Around 1959, they moved into town on 15th Street where they lived until 1977 when her husband built a home on Main Street. They then moved to Monroe Street in 1982. They moved back to Fairfield in 2004. After Mr. ROLAND's death, she moved to Indianola to be near her daughter Theresa RESCHLY.
Mrs. ROLAND worked as a secretary for 16 years for John Owen, an attorney at law in Washington.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Faith Baptist Church and then the Methodist church. She was president of several women's missionary groups. she also was a member of the women's Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed Poppy Days on Memorial Day.
Mrs. ROLAND enjoyed raising chickens, having a large garden and growing flowers. Her hobbies included reading, needle crafts and watching John Wayne movies. Later, she enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include: two daughters, Judith GUNNARSON and husband Curt of Hamilton, Ohio, and Theresa RESCHLY and husband Lonnie of Indianola; four grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: her parents; two sisters; and two brothers.
