Vava Mary Clark, 79, of Batavia died Wednesday, Sept. 22, 2004, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center in Ottumwa.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Kremer Funeral Chapel in Batavia, with the Rev. Thomas Raphael-Nakos officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery in Batavia.

Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel, with family present from 7-8 p.m.

A memorial has been established for new playground equipment in Batavia Park.

Mrs. Clark was born Sept. 22, 1925, in New Boston, the daughter of Bryan and Hazel Vermazen Hancock. She married Wayne Clark Aug. 4, 1949, in Mount Union.

Her early life was spent in the Farmington area. She graduated from Farmington High School in 1942. After her marriage, she was a homemaker.

Mrs. Clark was a 50-year member of Arbor Vitae Order of the Eastern Star of Batavia.

Survivors include her husband; three children, Robert Clark of Council Bluffs, Randy Clark of Batavia and Rhonda Bloomquist of Batavia; four brothers, Gene Hancock of Midland, Texas, Ralph Hancock of Fredericktown, Mo., James Hancock of Clarmore, Okla., and Howard Hancock of Argyle; two sisters, Ruth Lubber of Missouri and Mariam Madrid of Arlington, Texas; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Gilbert; and one infant sister.
