Leona M. SANDERSON

Leona M. SANDERSON, 95, of Hillsboro, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016, at Arbor Court in Mt. Pleasant (note: in Henry Co., IA).

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Hillsboro Cemetery in Hillsboro (also in Henry Co., IA).

Murphy Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant is handling the arrangements.

Mrs. SANDERSON was born Oct. 5, 1920, in Van Buren County, the daughter of Ray and Linnet B. SLUTZ BARNETT. She married Leo W. SANDERSON May 31, 1937. He died May 2, 1978.

Mrs. SANDERSON was a wonderful cook and a very loving and kind lady. She enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was a member of Hillsboro Baptist Church in Hillsboro.
Survivors include: her children, Carolyn HAYNES and husband Jesse of Hillsboro and Darrell SANDERSON and wife Judy of Douds; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mary Louise FAUGHT of Douds, Charlotte WALLERICH of Danville, Beulah SCHILLING of Fairfield and Margaret WORKMAN of Fairfield.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: her parents; two sons, Nathan Eugene SANDERSON and Kenneth Willard SANDERSON; two sisters; and four brothers.
