Wallace E. COX, 60, of Washington, Iowa, and formerly of Eldon, died today, Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016, at Park view Care Center in Wayland.

Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield is helping the family with arrangements.

Wallace 'Wally' E. COX

Wallace "Wally" E. COX, 60, of Washington, Iowa, and formerly of Eldon, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016, at Park View Care Center in Wayland.

The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, with Steve Pfeifer officiating.

Visitation for family and friends will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family. Cards and memorials can be mailed to Eugene COX, 1025 W. Williams, Ottumwa 52501. Online condolences can be made to the family at www.behnerfh.com .

Mr. COX was born April 18, 1955, in Johnson County, the son of Albert Dean and Marilyn TURNER COX. He married Deb CLARK in July 1976.

Mr. COX lived in Eldon from 2005 until June 2016 (sic) when he moved to Washington.

He worked at Rockwell/Meritor as a machinist.

His interests were outdoor activities, especially hunting and fishing, cheering on the Green Bay Packers and watching John Wayne movies.

Survivors include: his wife, Deb COX; four children, Eugene COX and spouse Whitney of Ottumwa, Crystal BREEDING and husband Matt of Batavia, Melissa SPURGEON and husband Matt of Eldon and Debra MASK and husband Andrew of Washington; nine grandchildren; one brother, Wilson COX of Minnesota; and one half-brother, Glenn COX of Oklahoma.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; and two sisters, Carol and Sheila.

Mr. COX was born April 28, 1954.

Mr. COX previously lived in Eldon before moving to Washington.

Incorrect birthdate and residency information were provided by the funeral home for the obituary in the Jan. 13 Ledger.
