Paul Bert Talley, 67, of Fairfield died at 5:36 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 18, 2004, at Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Behner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Steven Winn officiating. Burial of cremains will be at a later date.

Visitation will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials can be made to United Negro College Fund or at the donors choice.

Mr. Talley was born May 26, 1937, in Kansas City, Mo., the son of Frank and Maraquita Johns Talley. He married Linda Kieser Sept. 22, 1983, in Kansas City, Mo. It was his fourth marriage.

He served in the United States Marine Corps and received an honorable discharge in 1959. A resident of the Bay area of California for many years, he was employed by Eden Hospital, Del Monte Foods and General Motors. He graduated from the University of Berkeley in 1974 with a degree in political science and later received a masters degree in education from Maharishi University of Management. He resided in Fairfield for the past 25 years and was employed as an ayurvedic technician at The Raj for several years before his health required him to retire.

Mr. Talley was a member of Church of Perfect Liberty in Oakland, Calif.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Justin Talley of the home; two sisters, Mariah Harrison of New Bedford, Mass., and Naomi Fisher of Oakland; one brother, George Talley of Los Angeles, Calif.; and one daughter, Debra Smith of Kansas City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Frank Talley Jr.; and one sister, Ruth Walker.
