Patricia Suzanne MARTIN, 69, of Lockridge and previously of Phoenix and Tucson in Arizona and Sacramento, California, died Monday, Dec. 14, 2015.
Per Mrs. MARTIN's wishes, the remains have been cremated and no services will be held.
Memorials have been established for Lockridge Senior Center and HCI Hospice Care Services. Memorials can be sent to Lockridge Senior Center, PO Box 16, Lockridge 52635 or to HCI Hospice Care Services, 118 N. Main St., Mt. Pleasant 52641. Online condolences can be made at www.behnerfh.com.
Final arrangements were provided by Behner Funeral Home and Crematory in Fairfield.
Mrs. MARTIN was born Oct. 14, 1946, in Cochranton, Pensylvania (sic), the daughter of Alvie and Iva PETERSON. She married Paul Lewis MARTIN May 6, 1967. They divorced in August 2000.
Mrs. MARTIN resided in and attended school in Cochranton, Pensylvania, through the age of 14 and then moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where she completed high school.
She worked as a certified nurses assistant prior to attending classes at Indian Hills Community College to become an activity director at Nelson's Nursing Home. She also became a mentor to CNAs at Nelson's Nursing Home through classes at Southeastern Community College and received a Meritorious Volunteer Service Award for working with developmentally disabled children.
Mrs. MARTIN enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, gardening, cake decorating, flower arranging and crafting.
Survivors include: three sisters, Donna GILBERTSON, Sonyia CORONADO and Cindy SPLINTER of Arizona; one brother, John PETERSON of Arizona; one granddaughter; two grandsons; and one son-in-law, Frank HEMENWAY of Cochranton, Pensylvania.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her ex-husband; her daughter, Cheryl MARTIN-HEMENWAY; one grandson; and one-brother (sic) Michael PETERSON.
