Allan McKEEVER

Allan McKEEVER, 67, of rural Floris, died Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015, at his home.

A celebration of life will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Eldon Christian Church.

Visitation begins at noon Wednesday at Kremer Funeral Home in Eldon, with family present from 5-7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to the family or the Eldon Public Library. Friends can sign the online guestbook at www.kremerfh.com.

Paul Allan McKEEVER was born April 24, 1948, the son of Paul and Juanita ALLEN McKEEVER. He married Connie CARBAUGH March 2, 1968, in Fairfield.

He attended Cardinal community schools, graduating in 1966.

Upon graduation, he began working for John Deere in Ottumwa in the tool crib, working up to assembly, and eventually experimental technician. He retired after 35 years.

Mr. and Mrs. McKEEVER lived in Batavia for many years. In 1988, they moved to their current home in rural Floris. It was a house and farm that had been in Mrs. McKEEVER's family for many years. During their time there, it became a Century Farm.

Mr. McKEEVER was an avid hunter. He was a strong advocate for wildlife conservation. He was a member of the Soap Creek Saddle Club, and a lifetime member of Pheasants Forever and the NRA. He also enjoyed shooting trap, raising mules, dogs and playing cards. He also spent time in the kitchen, preparing "Pancake Wednesday" for the grandkids, and making barbecue sauce that has been a part of Gothic Days in Eldon for many years. His family brought him the most joy.

Survivors include his wife, Connie of Floris; two daughters, Paula CARTER and husband Jack of Floris and Shelley WHITE and husband Brent of Blakesburg; two siblings, Dennis McKEEVER and Mary SAMPLE; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
