Charles A. STICKELS, 77, of Douds, died Saturday evening, Nov. 28, 2015, while hunting north of Douds.
The body has been cremated and no services are planned at this time. A gathering of family and friends will be at a later date. Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds is assisting the family.
Mr. STICKELS was born Nov. 14, 1938, in Winterset, the son of Russell and Cora DAVIS STICKELS. He married Pearl PHELPS Aug. 6, 1960, in the Little Brown Church at Nashua.
He graduated from Vinton High School and attended Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids. He worked as a welder and foreman for Alliant Energy in Fairfield and other locations. He had served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. He had served on the fire department while living in Williamsburg.
The STICKELS moved to Douds in 2000.
Mr. STICKELS had been a Boy Scout and Cub Scout leader in Fairfield. He was a life member of the North American Hunting Club. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and all other outdoor activities. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include: his wife; two sons, Victor STICKELS and wife Cheryl of Fairfield and Regan STICKELS and wife Ann of Libertyville; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Johnnie STICKELS of Vinton and two sisters, Dixie WAYSON of Vinton and Billie JANS of Dysart.
He was preceded in death by: one sister, LaVon JOHNSON.
