George GILTNER

George D. GILTNER, 81, of rural Ottumwa passed away on November 21, 2015 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines from complications due to pneumonia.

He was born at the home farm north of Agency on December 11, 1933 to Howard and Hildred WARDER GILTNER. He married Marjorie McDOWELL on September 8, 1968. She preceded him in death on August 13, 2015.

George attended Round Point Country School and graduated from Agency High School in 1951. He graduated from Northeast Missouri State Teacher's College in 1957 and later the American Institute of Business. He worked at Iowa Malleable in Fairfield for 25 years until they closed.

George and Marjorie lived north of Agency until George moved to Parkview Care Center in Fairfield. They enjoyed many travels by train and car with their friends.

George was a 50 year member of Olive Branch Masonic Lodge #21 AF & AM of Agency. He was a 20 year member of the Agency Lions Club, a member of the Chief Wapello Memorial Park Association and a life-long member of the Agency United Methodist Church.

Surviving are many nieces and nephews including Allen (Lorrie) GILTNER and Lora (Mark) YORK. George was survived by sisters-in-law, Maxine GILTNER, Marcine BAXTER, Gerry ANDERSON, Carolyn HANNAN, Faye GREINER and Evelyn WELU.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Howard Jo GILTNER.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Agency United Methodist Church with Pastor Michael Finn officiating. Burial will be in Round Point Cemetery (note: in Wapello Co., IA).

Visitation begins after 11 a.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday. A Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m.

Memorials may be made to Olive Branch Masonic Lodge #21, AF & AM, Agency United Methodist Church or Agency Lions Club.
