Robert Lee PFEIFER, 86, of Washington, Iowa, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Services are pending at Jones & Eden Funeral Home.

Robert Lee 'Bob' PFEIFER

Robert Lee "Bob" PFEIFER, 86, of Richland, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2015, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a short illness.

A celebration of life service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Friends Church in Richland, with the Rev. Brad Cranston and the Rev. Tim Hadley officiating. Interment will be at Friends Cemetery in Richland (note: in Keokuk Co., IA).

Calling hours will begin 1 p.m. Sunday at the church, where the family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Sunday.

Memorials have been established for Friends Cemetery Association or Richland First Responders. Online condolences can be made at www.jonesfh.com .

The Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington, Iowa, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mr. PFEIFER was born Nov. 17, 1928, in Hayesville, the son of Otto Wendell and Lulu FRITCHEN PFEIFER. He married Joyce JONES April 15, 1949, in Richland.

Mr. PFEIFER graduated from Richland High School in 1946.

He was a lifelong resident of Richland. He farmed in the Richland community and drove an over-the-road truck for Kingsbury Homes in Sigourney. He hauled grain for local farmers for many years. He worked 10 years for the city of Richland in the water department and as a night marshal.

Mr. PFEIFER voluteered for the Richland Fire Department and was instrumental in starting the Richland First Responders.

He attended Trinity Friends Church.

He loved planting and nurturing trees for his grandchildren to enjoy. He received the Keokuk County Conservation Award for his efforts in tree planting and watershed maintenance.

Survivors include: his wife, Joyce PFEIFER of Richland; three sons, David PFEIFER and wife Carolyn of Oskaloosa, Steven PFEIFER and wife Candy of Richland, Mark PFEIFER and wife Terry of Gary, Indiana; one daughter, Tammy GARDNER and husband Doug of Marion; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and one sister, Luella HOLMES of Savannah, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; and one son, Timothy.
