Ricky G. SMITH

Ricky G. SMITH, 60, of Washington, Iowa, died at his home Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015.

The body was cremated. A graveside service, with the Rev. Rick Zickefoose officiating, is planned 10:30 a.m. Friday at Hillcrest Cemetery in Brighton.

General memorials can be brought to the service or mailed to Connie SHELANGOSKI, 305 E. Madison St., Brighton 52540.

Gould Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. SMITH was born March 31, 1955, in Iowa City, the son of Joseph Oliver and Ruth Ellen VOLGER SMITH.

Mr. SMITH grew up in Brighton and graduated from Washington High School in 1973.

He lived in Brighton until moving to Washington in 1989. He worked at McCleery-Cumming Company in Washington for more than 20 years until his health forced him to retire. He also worked part-time at Hy-Vee and WCDC in Washington.

Mr. SMITH was an avid baseball player. He loved to fish and hunt mushrooms.

Surivors include: two sisters, Connie SHELANGOSKI and Nancy KELLY, both of Brighton; and three brothers, Dennie SMITH and Jack SMITH, both of Washington, and Tim SMITH of Brighton.
