Phillip "Phil" Ray FERREL, 73, of Fairfield, died Saturday, Sept. 12, 2015.
Per his wishes, the body has been cremated. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Behner Funeral Home & Crematory in Fairfield, with the Rev. Danny Cary officiating. Burial will follow the service at Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.
Visitation for family and friends will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mr. FERREL was born Feb. 3, 1942, in Fairfield, the son of Ivyl FERREL and Wilda HUFFMAN. He married Rose Ann FULTON in 1963 in Fairfield.
Mr. FERREL grew up in Libertyville. After marrying, he lived in Fairfield.
He graduated from Fairfield High School with the Class of 1961.
He was a design engineer at John Deere in Ottumwa for 24 years before he retired in 1996.
He enjoyed being outdoors, especially fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include: his wife, Rose Ann FERREL of Fairfield; three children, Todd FERREL and Denise JOHNSTON of Des Moines, Brett FERREL and wife Amy of Fairfield, and Dan FERREL and wife Lezlee of Waukee; eight grandchildren; one brother, Vic FERREL of Fairfield; and one sister, Marcene McCARTY of Phoenix, Arizona.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; and brother, Paul FERREL.
