Kenneth G. SCHULZ

Kenneth G. SCHULZ, 75, of Iowa City, passed away Monday, August 31, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, September 4, 2015 at The Newman Catholic Student Center, Iowa City with Father Ed Fitzpatrick officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior at the church. Burial with military honors will be at the Rock Creek Cemetery, rural Ollie (note: in Keokuk Co., IA). Memorials may be made to the Kenneth Schulz Memorial Fund.

Ken was born on December 5, 1939 in rural Hansell, IA, the son of Russell and Myrtle (DHONDT) SCHULZ. He served in the US Army from 1961-1964. Ken was united in marriage to Karen BAKER on February 12, 1983 at First United Methodist Church, Ottumwa. Ken retired from his accounting career at Wells Fargo Home Mortgage where he and Karen worked a combined 25 years.

Ken is survived by his wife Karen of 32 years; two children Lori (Matt) KAYSER of Agency, IA, and Steve (Lisa) ROBERTS of Richland, IA; four grandchildren Ashley (Jon Cook) KAYSER of Fairfield, IA, Tyler (Stefanie) ROBERTS of Klamath Falls, OR, Trevor (Molly) KAYSER of Mt. Ayr, IA, and Andrea MEIER of Agency, IA; two great-grandchildren Jaden KERN, and Bodhi Mae COOK; Aunt Doris KNUEPPLE of Hampton, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ken is preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a brother.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Laith Abushahin, Dr. Salaish Sarin, Iowa City Hospice, and all the staff at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for their compassion and excellent care given to Ken.
