Leonard Rawley "Jiggs" Skirvin, 91, of Batavia, died at 10:20 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004, at Jefferson County Hospital.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Batavia Cemetery in Batavia, with the Rev. Ed Newman officiating.

Family visitation will be held from 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday at Behner Funeral Home.

A memorial has been established in Mr. Skirvins name.

Mr. Skirvin was born Aug. 15, 1913, in Batavia, the son of Rawley Byron and Nellie May Copeland Skirvin. He married Teresa Ryan. She died in 1972.

He retired in 1978 after 27 years of employment in street maintenance for the city of Fairfield. He also farmed.

Survivors include one son, Mike Skirvin and wife Sandra of Batavia; and two brothers, Mervin Skirvin of Birmingham and John Darrel Skirvin of Waring, Texas.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William "Bill" Skirvin and James Pat Lewis Skirvin; and two sisters, Ruth Skirvin Orris and infant Fern Skirvin.
