Lee CARLBERG

Lee CARLBERG, 75, of Eldon, died Thursday, Aug. 6, 2015, at his home.

Per his wishes, the body will be cremated. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Saturday at Kremer Funeral Home in Eldon. No service is planned.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to the family to be used for his grandchildren's education. Friends can sign the online guestbook at www.kremerfh.com .

Walter Lee CARLBERG was born Jan. 18, 1940, in Ottumwa, the son of Bernard and Ruby JAMES CARLBERG. He married Shirley HILL. They later divorced. He married Sue COLLINS Dec. 27, 2002.

Mr. CARLBERG worked at a service station on Highway 63 for a while before he became self-employed as a truck driver in 1972. He would travel to Denver, Colorado, with a load of bricks or steel and backhaul to Chicago, with a load of wheat. In 1985 his single operation grew to include his family when he started Carlberg & Sons Trucking. He logged many miles behind the wheel of his Freightliners before his retirement in 1997.

He enjoyed fishing and hunting in his free time, but his true pleasure was getting to spend time with his grandchildren. He would help anyone in need.

Survivors include: his wife, Sue CARLBERG of Eldon; four sons, Kevin CARLBERG and wife Crystal of Bloomfield, Scott CARLBERG and wife Linnette of Wilson, Wisconsin, Lee CHRISTMAS of Valparaiso, Indiana, and adopted son Brody CARLBERG of Eldon; 10 grandchildren; and two stepchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; two sons, Delbert and Dwight CARLBERG; two siblings, Bruce CARLBERG and an infant brother, Johnny CARLBERG; and his stepmother, Betty CARLBERG.
