Stephen Wayne McCOY, 62 of Fairfield, died today, Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at Jefferson County Health Center, in Fairfield.

Behner Funeral Home is helping the family with arrangements.

Stephen Wayne McCOY

Stephen Wayne McCOY, age 62 of Fairfield, passed away July 15, 2015 at Jefferson County Health Center surrounded by his loving family.

Memorial service for family and friends will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, July 17, 2015 at First Baptist Church with words of comfort by Charles Comfort.

Steve was born September 6, 1952 in Winnsboro, South Carolina to Doyle and Eunice EDENFIELD McCOY. He married Martha LAMB on April 8, 1978 at Charleston Air Force Base in Charleston, South Carolina.

Steve entered the Air Force in 1971 and retired in 1994. He worked for 21 years at the South Iowa Area Crime Commission as its Executive Director. Steve was an avid golfer; he loved to travel, especially to visit his kids and grandkids. He was an avid collector of points and miles, especially Marriott Rewards points. Steve enjoyed visiting military bases around the country and keeping up with his Air Force buddies. He never missed the chance to cheer on his favorite football team the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Steve loved spending his free time with his family.

Steve is survived by his wife, Martha McCOY; three (3) Children, Josh (Barb) McCOY of Dallas, Texas, Lindsay (Chris) CRANE of Olathe, Kansas, Ashley (Will) GIBBONS of Raleigh, North Carolina; four (4) Grandchildren, Ryan and Madeline CRANE of Olathe, Kansas, Lillian McCOY of Dallas Texas, George GIBBONS of Raleigh, North Carolina; Parents, Doyle and Eunice McCOY of Winnsboro, South Carolina, two (2) Sisters, Marsha BROWN of Columbia, South Carolina and Tricia BRAMLETT of Lexington, South Carolina.

He is preceded in death by his brother, Kerry McCOY.
