Kay (HOLLANDER) GROUT

Loving mother and grandmother, Kay (HOLLANDER) GROUT, peacefully passed on in her sleep on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 4:56 p.m. at Spurgeon Manor in Dallas Center, Iowa (note: in Dallas Co.) at the age of 74.

Kay is the daughter of Wilbur and Martha HOLLANDER, natives of Fairfield, Iowa. She later settled in Mason City, Iowa with former spouse, Paul GROUT, where she proudly raised her children and grandchildren. She served members of the community at the counter of Marshall & Swift up until the time of her retirement at age 70. Kay also served on the board of the Stockman House designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in Mason City. Kay loved to involve herself in politics. She also loved to garden and spend time with family.

Kay is survived by brothers, Richard (Mary) HOLLANDER and James (LaVona) HOLLANDER; son, Doug GROUT (Jean MEYER); daughter, Chrissy SNYDER; and son, Brad (Amanda) GROUT; as well as grandchildren, Brandon DODD, Mikayla (Mitchell) HARMS, Gage SNYDER, Adrianna SNYDER, Strummer GROUT, and Edyn GROUT.

Kay will be cremated with a private graveside service held at a future date. Her remains will be interred with her mother and father at Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield, Iowa. Condolences may be sent to her family at 109 South Greene Street, Boone, Iowa 50036. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be given to Spurgeon Manor in Dallas Center in Kay's name.
