Leland Doug MORRISON, 88, of Fairfield died today, Friday, June 5, 2015, at his home.

Behner Funeral Home is helping the family with arrangements.

Leland "Doug" Douglas MORRISON, 88, of Fairfield died Friday, June 5, 2015, at his home.

Per his wishes, the body has been cremated, and a private memorial service was held.

Mr. MORRISON was born March 17, 1927, in Washington, Iowa, the son of Leland P. "Shorty" and Mary Lucille DOUGLAS MORRISON. He married Carole Jeanne GOODWIN Oct. 12, 1985.

Mr. MORRISON graduated from Fairfield High School in 1945. After high school, he attended Parsons College for one year and then graduated from Commercial Trade Institute in Chicago as a refrigeration technician. He did his electrical apprenticeship in Knoxville, Tennessee, Newton and Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Mr. MORRISON served in the U.S. Army. He attended basic training at Camp Cooke, California, then served with the 40th Infantry Division. He graduated from leadership school at Camp Roberts, California.

He graduated with a bachelor's degree in forestry from Oregon State University. As a forester with the U.S. Bureau of Land Management, he worked in Salem, Eugene, Roseburg, Medford Districts and Oregon state office. He was chief of acquisition of lands and interest in lands for Oregon and Washington and served as an instructor for other western states.

Mr. MORRISON was a lifetime member of the American Legion, The Public Lands Foundation, The National Association of Retired Federal Employees, United States Golf Society and The Handyman Club of America. He was a member of Clinton Lodge No. 15 AF & AM, The American Association of Retired Persons, International Right of Way Association and the Walton Club.

Survivors include: his wife, Carole MORRISON; two daughters, Camila MORRISON of Vancouver, Washington, and Gayle DUNCAN of Seattle, Washington; two stepchildren, Patrick O'NEILL of Wichita, Kansas, and Tim O'NEILL of Fairfield; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary "Kate" ANGSTEAD of Aurora, Colorado.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; and one stepdaughter, Kerry HICKENBOTTOM.
