M. Elizabeth ASKEW

M. Elizabeth ASKEW, age 103, of rural Hillsboro died Friday, May 1st at the Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.

Born Mildred Elizabeth BAUMAN at her family home near Birmingham on August 17, 1911, she was the daughter of Fred M. and Weltha NORRIS BAUMAN.

A lifelong resident of the Birmingham - Stockport community. She graduated from the Birmingham High School in 1929.

She married William Bryant ASKEW on December 11, 1937 at her parents' home.

She was a homemaker and care giver to her husband for many years.

Elizabeth was a member of the Stockport United Methodist Church, P.E.O., Chapter AB, a 50 year member of Eastern Star, the D.A.R., United Methodist Women, former Sunday school teacher, Rainbow Girls mother, former L.L.G. member and former 4-H leader of the Victory Belles.

Deceased family members include her husband William, her parents and one brother Frederick BAUMAN.

Surviving are her daughter and husband Marilyn and Wayne BRADFIELD of Ottumwa and her son and his wife George and Dalene ASKEW of Stockport. Plus 2 grandchildren Glen BRADFIELD and his wife Christin and Ann BRADFIELD and great grandson Zachary BRADFIELD.

Funeral services will be 1:30 P.M. Friday, May 8th at the Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham. Pastor Herb Shafer officiating.

Visitation will begin at 12:30 P.M. Friday at the funeral home, one hour prior to the funeral.

Interment will be in Spencer Cemetery in Stockport (note: in Van Buren Co., IA).

Memorials may be made to Stockport United Methodist Church.

Arrangements are in the care of the Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham.
