Laura Alice LUNSFORD THOMAS

MILTON - Laura Alice LUNSFORD THOMAS, 85, formerly of Milton, died peacefully at 3:37 a.m. Tuesday April 28, 2015 at Davis County Hospital, Bloomfield.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, with Minister Kevin Mote officiating. Visitation wil open at 11 a.m. Friday with family present from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Cantril (note: in Van Buren Co., IA). Gifts to a memorial to be designated later by the family may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 5029 Innsbruck Drive, Ankeny, Iowa 50021.

Laura was born August 20, 1929 in Troy to Bernie and Pearl DECKER LUNSFORD and married Cleo THOMAS in 1947. They later divorced and he died August 21, 2004. Then she married Don KIRBY and they divorced and Gary SANTEE and they later divorced.

Laura attended Troy High School and then moved to Milton and then to Texas. She spent the last several years of her life in Iowa. She was a member of the Elkhart Christian Church in Elkhart, Iowa, had worked as a nurse's aid (sic - aide) prior to working for Walmart from which she retired in the late 1990s. In her younger years she enjoyed singing and playing the guitar with her sister, Mattie.

Surviving are a son Steve (Brenda) THOMAS of Milton, a daughter Nancy Jean SCHWIEGER of Ankeny, two brothers, Frank LUNSFORD of Fairfield and Dean LUNSFORD of Peoria, Illinois, four sisters, Sue GOUGH of Iowa City, Mattie RADABAUGH of Cameron, Missouri, Angie HAMBURG of Oskaloosa and Marilee GASKILL of Olatha, Kansas, four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her estranged husband, Cleo THOMAS, and half-brother, Arlie WHEATON.
