FORT MADISON - Lucille Rosemary MERSCHMAN, 88, of the Kensington in Fort Madison, Iowa, formerly of St. Paul passed away at 12:50 a.m. Thursday, April 30, 2015 at the Kensington.
Friends may call and meet with the family from 2:30-5 p.m. Sunday, May 3, 2015 at St. James the Less Catholic Church in St. Paul, Iowa where a parish rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. and a Christian wake service will be held at 5 p.m. that afternoon.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 4, 2015 at St. James the Less Catholic Church in St. Paul with Father Bruce DeRammalaere officiating. Burial will be at St. James Catholic Cemetery in St. Paul (note: in Lee Co., IA).
Memorials may be made in her memory to St. James Catholic Church, Holy Trinity Catholic Schools or Lee County Hospice.

She was born June 24, 1926 in Fort Madison, Iowa, the daughter of Frank W. and Mary (NICHTING) PIEPER. On January 31, 1948 she married Robert G. MERSCHMAN at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Houghton, Iowa. He preceded her in death on April 22, 2005.
Lucille was a graduate of St. John's Catholic School in Houghton. Lucille was a member of St. James the Less Catholic Church in St. Paul and the Altar and Rosary Society. Along with her husband Bob they owned and operated a local grocery and tavern and St. Paul Feed and Fertilizer. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, flowers, playing cards and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her five daughters Karen (Frank) REDEKER of Fairfield, Iowa, Marcia (John) KRUSE of Hillsboro, Becky (Fred) WALLACE of Aloha, Oregon, Joan (Gary) GENTRY of Carrollton, Texas and Angie (Brad) BOX of West Point, Iowa; eighteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, one brother-in-law Bill (Bernice) MERSCHMAN of West Point, Iowa, one sister-in-law Renelda PIEPER of Houghton, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob, one daughter Debra FREITAG, three sisters Sr. Bernadine PIEPER, Frances Scott CASLAVKA, and Ruth HOLTKAMP and one brother James PIEPER.
