Vincent E. BOBENHOUSE, 91 of Des Moines, passed away June 5, 2013, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, June 10, 2013, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3223 University Avenue, Des Moines, with Pastor Michael Wolfram officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery, 1 NE 60th Avenue in Des Moines. Visitation will be Sunday, June 9, 2013, from 3 to 5 p.m., at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 121 NW 60th Avenue (note: in Polk Co., IA).

Vincent is survived by his wife of 64 years, Myetha of Des Moines; two daughters, Annette SCHIEBOUT of Algonquin, IL, and Pamela RODEWALD (Bill) of Fort Dodge; son Vincent (Lucy) BOBENHOUSE of Des Moines; six grandchildren, Dr. Jessen SCHIEBOUT of Chicago, IL, Kyle SCHIEBOUT of Chicago, IL, Lindsay RODEWALD of Fairfield, IA, Michael ODEWALD of West Des Moines, and Michaela BOBENHOUSE and Zachary BOBENHOUSE, both of Des Moines; brothers Fred BOBENHOUSE of Des Moines and Max (Alice) BOBENHOUSE of Plattsmouth, NE; sisters-in-law Irma BOBENHOUSE, Nellie BOBENHOUSE, and Wilma BOBENHOUSE, all of Des Moines, and Mavis (Gail) VanALSTINE of Fort Dodge; and brother-in-law Joe (Charlotte) SHERMAN of Webster City.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Dema BOBENHOUSE; brothers Carl, Richard, and Robert; son-in-law Nolan SCHIEBOUT, and sister-in-law Norma BOBENHOUSE.

Vincent was born November 6, 1921, to Dema and Herman BOBENHOUSE in Des Moines. He attended schools in Des Moines, graduating from Lincoln High School in 1941. He attended Iowa State University prior to joining the US Navy. He served in the South Pacific area from 1942 to 1945.

On April 24, 1949, he was united in marriage to Myetha SHERMAN, and they had three children. The couple made their home in Des Moines. Vincent’s favorite pastimes were spending time with his family, boating, serving his church, reading, design/architectural challenges, meeting with his Lincoln classmates, and visiting with many friends through his field of work. He belonged to the United States Power Squadron and Sailing Club for 53 years. During that time he created a new district (District 30 to include IA, MO, and KS), while serving as commander.

He has been a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for 64 years. Vincent spent 67 years designing, building, and selling homes, boats (both for pleasure and for government in the United States and other countries), motor homes, show cars, and many fiberglass molds, retiring at the age of 90. One of his highlights was building the first television station (KGTV) in the city of Des Moines. Most recently he contracted with businesses in the area and across the state doing fiberglass work.
