Patricia 'Pat' WICKLIFF CASSAT

Patricia "Pat" Ann WICKLIFF CASSAT, 88, of Clarinda, died Saturday, April 11, 2015, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m., Thursday at Westminster Presbyterian Church. A reception will follow the service. Private interment will be in Clarinda Cemetery before the service (note: in Page Co., IA).

Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Ritchie Funeral Home in Clarinda.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Nodaway Valley Historical Museum or Presbyterian World Missions, c/o Clarinda Westminster Church. Memories and condolences can be shared with the family on website www.ritchiefuneralhome.com under Obituaries. Arrangements were entrusted to the (sic)

Mrs. CASSAT was born in Indianola, the daughter of Donald and Hazel WICKLIFF. She was married to Kenneth CASSAT for 60 years. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. CASSAT grew up in Fairfield. She attended Fairfield High School and Parsons College.

She was a lifelong learner and teacher. She was an avid student of history and government and taught classes at Clarinda High School on those subjects for many years.

She was the family historian who researched, documented and recited the family genealogy. She also produced award-winning local and regional historical programs.

Mrs. CASSAT was an active member and leader of PEO, Garden Club, Bridge Club, The Glenn Miller Birthplace Society. She was a founding member of the Nodaway Valley Historical Museum.

She was a longtime member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and served as an elder, Sunday school teacher and choir member.

Her passions included cooking and flower gardening. She was a masterful seamstress and artist. She consistently helped people in need.

She once designed windows for JCPenney and cards for Hallmark.

Survivors include: children, Jeffrey CASSAT and wife Becky of Des Moines, James CASSAT and wife June of Washington, Missouri, Jamie FASSNACHT and husband Dan of Parkville, Missouri, and Jonathon CASSAT and wife Susan CASSAT of Overland Park, Kansas; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one brother Pete WICKLIFF of Fairfield.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: her parents; one brother, William; and one grandson.
