Herbert Kelland REDHEAD

Herbert "Kell" Kelland REDHEAD, 91, died Saturday, April 4, 2015.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to the Bentonsport Improvement Association. Donations or condolences can be sent to Kell Ann REDHEAD, 10 Sunrise Ridge Lane, Keokuk 52632 or emailed to kellannredhead@gmail.com.

Behner Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting with arrangements.

Mr. REDHEAD was born Jan. 9, 1924, in New York state, the son of Mildred CROWE and Herbert Henry REDHEAD. He married Burretta Mae GOODMAN in 1944 in Des Moines.

He resided in the Redhead Mansion in Des Moines. He graduated from East High School in 1943. After high school, he worked for Allis Chalmers Corporation.

In 1956, he and his wife bought Mason House Inn in Bentonsport. They restored the inn and numerous buildings and were instrumental in getting Bentonsport on the National Historic Register.

Survivors include: two daughters, Kell Ann REDHEAD of Keokuk and Sally ROSS of Roach, Missouri; one brother, Wesley REDHEAD of Des Moines; one sister, Joy GILCHRIST of Des Moines; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by: his parents; and his wife.
