Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield is helping the family with arrangements.

Kenneth "Ken" Lee AMES, 63, of Fairfield, died Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at his home.
Per his wishes, the body has been cremated. A memorial service is set for 2 p.m. Sunday at Fairfield Arts & Convention Center, with the Rev. Gary Van Nyhuis and the Rev. Monte Knudsen officiating. Military rites will follow the service. Burial of cremains will be at a later date.
No visitation is planned.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Ken & Mary Ames Memorial. Cards and memorials can be sent to 810 S. Fifth St., Fairfield 52556. Online condolences can be made at www.behnerfh.com.

Mr. AMES was born Oct. 22, 1951, in Green City, Missouri, the son of Harry and Helen GLIDWELL AMES. He married Mary ZARAGOZA Dec. 19, 1992.
Mr. AMES served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War (sic - Vietnam Conflict).
He went to Indian Hills Community College and received his associate's degree in lasers and robotics.
Mr. AMES lived in Fairfield for 38 years.
He worked at Hadley Plumbing & Heating for three years.
His hobbies and interests were: collecting coins and stamps, reading science fiction, politics and sports. He was an avid Cardinals fan. He and his wife liked going to their grandchildren's activities and cheering them on. The most important was spending time with family and friends.
Mr. AMES attended Faith Christian Outreach Church.
Survivors include: his wife; five children, Scott SIMPSON and wife Salina, Nicole SMITH and husband Beau, Samantha SEPTER and wife Cory (sic), all of Fairfield, Erica AMES of Milton and Nathan AMES and wife Tabatha of Rome, Iowa; his mother, of Green City, Missouri; eight grandchildren; and two siblings, Gordy AMES of Oklahoma and Kathy TECHAU of Texas.
He was preceded in death by: his father.
