Peggy DERBY, 85, of Richland, died Thursday afternoon, March 26, 2015, at SunnyBrook Assisted Living in Fairfield.

Arrangements are pending at Gould Funeral Home in Richland.

Peggy L. DERBY

Peggy L. DERBY, 85, of Richland, died Thursday afternoon, March 26, 2015, at SunnyBrook Assisted Living in Fairfield.

A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Richland United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Carl Benge officiating. Burial will be in Richland Friends Cemetery (note: in Keokuk Co., IA).

The family will greet friends at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday preceding the memorial service at the church.

Memorials for Richland United Methodist Church can be left at the church or mailed to the family at 2625 McGowan Blvd., Marion 52302.

Gould Funeral Home of Richland is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. DERBY was born April 19, 1929, near Sigourney, the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth Isabelle CLARK CLUBB. She married Harold C. DERBY Feb. 25, 1948, in North English. He died Dec. 30, 2005.

Mrs. DERBY graduated from Webster High School and attended Normal Training at Parsons College in Fairfield.

She was an active farm wife helping with all the farm operations. She helped operate the apple orchard in Richland and sold Avon. She had taught in a one-room school near Richland.

She was active in the Richland Christian Church until it closed, then became a member of the Richland United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Ollie Order of Eastern Star.

She helped organize trips to Branson, Missouri. She loved to travel, played cards and bingo and enjoyed crocheting. She taught ceramic classes.

Survivors include: two daughters, Kathy NORTHUP and spouse Robert of Brighton and Barbara ALTENHOFEN and spouse Leslie of Washington, Iowa; two sons, Gary DERBY and spouse Rita of Marion and Terry DERBY of Batavia; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Doris OWINGS of Dewitt; and one brother, Larry "Corky" CLUBB of Sigourney.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: her parents; daughter-in-law, Janet DERBY; three sisters, Alegra COONEY, Joan GRIMM and Margaret TEETER; and five brothers, Russell, Rodney, Forest, Roger and Gordon CLUBB.
