Brenda Joyce HANSHAW

Brenda Joyce HANSHAW, 73, of Chesapeake, Virginia, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015.

The funeral was held Feb. 18 at Great Bridge Chapel of Oman Funeral Home & Crematory in Chesapeake. The interment was in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. HANSHAW was born near Sigourney, the daughter of Alexander and Corda LIVESAY. She was married to Lenny HANSHAW for 55 years.

Mrs. HANSHAW attended country schools in Keokuk, Jefferson and Van Buren counties and graduated from Keosauqua High School in 1959.

She worked at the Fairfield Elks Lodge and other food service organizations in Fairfield and Ottumwa. She later advanced her education and worked as an insurance/Medicare coder for a physician's clinic for many years.

Survivors include: her husband; one son, Kevin HANSHAW; two grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; two sisters, Bernadine and Shirley; and three brothers, Gaylord, George and John.

She was preceded in death by: one daughter, Tammie Marie HANSHAW; and her parents.
