Nancy Lee STOOPS

Nancy Lee STOOPS, 73, of Springfield, Illinois, and formerly of Van Buren County, died Monday, Feb. 23, 2015, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.

The funeral is set for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Herb Shafer officiating. Burial will be in the Pittsburg Cemetery at Pittsburg (note: in Van Buren Co., IA).

Visitation is set from 6-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Online condolences can be made to the family at www.raymondfuneralhomes.com.

Ms. STOOPS was born Aug. 14, 1941, in Van Buren County, the daughter of Ralph Evan and Esther E. RUBY STOOPS.

She was a graduate of Stockport High School at Stockport and a graduate of Missouri Northeast State Teacher College at Kirksville, Missouri.

She taught for more than 30 years, including coaching at McMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois, and at Southeast High School in Springfield, Illinois. She also taught physical education and health at Southeast.

She was dedicated to the care of animals. She enjoyed golfing and tennis.

Survivors include: friend, Claudine Bradley of Springfield, Illinois; and special cousins, Carolyn DeHART and Marvin BRADFIELD.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Geraldine COUGHLIN.
