June 29, 2004Mary Ellen Griffin, 66, of 505 W. Madison Ave., died at 6:15 p.m. Monday, June 28, 2004, at Jefferson County Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Behner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jim Cecil officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield.
Family visitation will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Behner Funeral Home.
Memorials can be made to American Cancer Society.
Mrs. Griffin was born June 5, 1938, in Batavia, the daughter of Harold and Iva West Six. She married Billie Stanton Griffin October 17, 1953, at First Christian Church in Fairfield. He died August 6, 1996.
Mary was a lifelong resident of the Batavia and Fairfield communities. Following employment at Universal Producing and the kitchen at Jefferson County Hospital, Mary was employed as a cashier at HyVee Food Store.
Survivors include two children, Randy Lee Griffin and wife Ann of Richland and Marilu Ann Griffin Miller of Fairfield; one daughter-in-law, Cheryl Griffin of Fairfield, who had been married to the late Danny Ray Griffin, and special friend Dick Thomas; four grandchildren, Mikael Griffin of Merimac, Calif., Jason Miller of Fairfield, Nadena Miller of Fairfield and Billie Griffin of Richland; two brothers, Bob Six of Cameron, Mo., and Bill Six of Batavia; and two sisters, Frances Whitmore of Los Angeles, Calif., and Barbara Covert of Batavia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Billie S. Griffin; one son, Danny Ray Griffin; and one brother, Jack Six.
