Bernadine Ann Sheetz, 81, of 1702 Linden Drive, died at 2:15 a.m. Monday, June 28, 2004, at Jefferson County Hospital.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church, with Father Charles Fladung and co-celebrant the Rev. Msgr. Francis Hendricksen officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield.

Christian Wake Service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Raymond Funeral Home.

Visitation will follow the Wake Service from 6:30-8 p.m.

Memorials have been established to the SunnyBrook Assisted Living Activity Fund, Tenco Industries or hospice.

Raymond Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Sheetz was born October 12, 1922, in Keota, the daughter of Leo and Geneva Margaret Adrian Buch. She married Horace Sheetz November 28, 1946, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield.

She grew up in the Keota community and graduated from Keota High School in 1940. The family moved to Fairfield in 1942.

Bernadine taught school at Pietch, Talleyrand and Abingdon schools. She was employed in the business office at Jefferson County Hospital for 22 years, from September 7, 1966, until her retirement October 22, 1988.

She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and had been a board member of The Arc of Jefferson & Nearby Counties.

She enjoyed ballroom dancing and card playing.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Aaron Sheetz and wife Patty of Fairfield and Nyle Sheetz and wife Norma of Fairfield; four daughters, Sue Ann Hock of Fairfield, Mary Lou McEntee of Columbia, Mo., Judy Diehl and husband Melvin of Fairfield and Cheryl Sheetz of Fairfield; 12 grandchildren, Todd Sheetz, Kip Sheetz, Cary Hock, Lindy Hock, Meredith McEntee, Natalie McEntee, Angela McCartney, Jennifer Osborn, Sara Sheetz, Casey Diehl, Matt Diehl and Shawna Diehl; and seven brothers and sisters, Leonard, Lloyd, Keith and Gene Buch, all of Fairfield, Evalee Mickey of North Liberty, and Donna Shelangoski of Eldon, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one granddaughter.
