Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Douds.

Earl E. HIGDON, 87, of rural Douds, died at 3:55 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015, at his home.
A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Stephen Higdon officiating. The body has been cremated. Private burial of cremains will be at a later date on the family farm, Green Valley Farm Ltd., in rural Douds.
Visitation, with family present, will be from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service.
Gifts to a memorial to be designated later by the family can be left at the funeral home or mailed to 17127 Highway 16, Douds 52551.
Mr. HIGDON was born June 19, 1927, in Burlington, the son of Louis and Rosalee JENKINS HIGDON. He married Mildred CHADWICK June 20, 1948, in Burlington.
Mr. HIGDON grew up in Burlington and attended Burlington schools. After school, he moved to Bonaparte, but later moved back to Burlington to work at Burlington Northern Shops, Montgomery Ward, the ordinance plant and in construction.
He and his wife moved to their farm in 1987 and raised hogs, cattle and row crops.
He was a member of Open Bible Church and had been pastor at the Open Bible Church in Keokuk. He had been a traveling evangelist, building several churches through a work-preach program.
He enjoyed working and dealing with finances as his hobby.
Survivors include: his wife, Mildred; three sons, Stephen HIGDON and wife Cathy of Maui, Hawaii, Jeff HIGDON and wife Michelle of Lockridge and Todd HIGDON of Oskaloosa; one daughter, Jeanne LOGAN of West Burlington; 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; five stepbrothers ,Him HIGDON of Danville, Billy HIGDON of Virginia, Stanley HIGDON of Wever, Bobby HIGDON of New London and Gary HIGDON; three stepsisters, Kay BERGTHILD of Burlington, Betty McGRATH of Silvis, Illinois, and Dorothy MILLS of Salem.
He was preceded in death by: three brothers, Junior, Eugene and Glen HIGDON; one sister, Janet GULICK; one stepsister, Shirley ELMORE; and one son-in-law, Henry LOGAN.
