JACOBS, NELSON, MOBURG, JACOBSON

Fairfield Journal May 12, 1905

John JACOBS was born in Sweden May 7, 1825 and died at his home in Lockridge Township May 4, 1905.

He came to America in 1851, settling at Burlington and removed to Jefferson County in 1853, where he has resided ever since.

In 1847, he was united in marriage with Anna Catherine NELSON, who survives him.

To this union were born 8 children, 2 of whom preceded their father to the better world, Andrew, who died when a young man and Oscar, who departed about 12 years ago.

The living are: Mrs. Moberg (sic. Clara Jacobs MOBURG) of Fairfield, Mrs. (Caroline) Frank JACOBSON of Ottumwa, Henry of Galesburg, Albert, August and Frank. Deceased had 21 grandchildren.

Mr. Jacobs united with the Swedish Lutheran Church early in life and has remained a faithful member ever since. He was considered a peaceful and kind neighbor by all who knew him. He did a great deal for the betterment of the vicinity in which he lived.

Rev. M. Johnson of Salina, conducted the funeral services Sunday afternoon.
