June 22, 2004Funeral services for Bruce A. Guy, 84, of Moline, Ill., are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, Ill. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation is 5:30-7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Guy died Sunday, June 20, 2004, at Illini Hospital, Silvis, Ill.
Memorials may be made to the Iowa SIDS Alliance in the name of Lauren Viaene or to the Union Congregational Church, Moline, building fund.
Mr. Guy was born March 5, 1920, in Moline. He worked in Quality Control at the former International Harvester Farmall Works, Rock Island, retiring in 1983. He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He married Elaine Davis June 12, 1960.
Reading, growing tomatoes, raising fruit trees and solving a difficult math problem were things Bruce truly enjoyed. He would start a political debate or pull a practical joke at any time. Most of all, he was a good husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Elaine; daughters and sons-in-law Diana and Joe Viaene of Moline and Pamela and Bill Corrick of Fairfield; a son, Douglas Guy of Cedar Rapids; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and one sister, Marlowe Jacobs of East Moline.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Lauren.
