Dorothy Leona BARTHOLOMEW

Dorothy Leona BARTHOLOMEW, 82, of Washington, Iowa, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2914, in Washington following an extended illness.

A celebration of life service is set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Washington (note: in Washington Co., IA), with the Rev. Rick Zickefoose officiating. Interment will be at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington.

Visitation began at noon today at Jones & Eden Funeral Home in Washington, where the family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. today.

Memorials have been established for Washington County Hospice or the Immanuel Lutheran Church. Online condolences can be made at www.jonesfh.com.

Mrs. BARTHOLOMEW was born June 25, 1932, in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Jacob and Ocie BLACK BOESE. She married Donald BARTHOLOMEW June 8, 1952, in Fairfield. He died in 1997.

She attended country school in Lockridge.

Mrs. BARTHOLOMEW was a homemaker and assisted her husband in the family farm operation.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She loved quilting and was instrumental in starting the Helping Other People Everywhere Quilting Club at the church.

She enjoyed gardening, fishing, mushrooming and watching her grandchildren's many activities.

Survivors include: two sons, Steven BARTHOLOMEW and wife Barbara, and Gaylen "Barney" BARTHOLOMEW, both of Washington; two daughters, Vickie BANKS and Sheryl STALDER, both of Washington; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: her parents; four brothers, Howard, Arthur, Alfred and Dale BOESE; and three sisters, Mildred BOESE, Frances BOESE and Edith NORDYKE.
