Elaine N. BURKETT

Elaine N. BURKETT, 92, of rural Keosauqua died at 4:45 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, 2014, at Donnellson Health Center in Donnellson.

A private graveside service and burial will be in Center Chapel Cemetery, rural Keosauqua with her niece the Rev. Dr. Mary Pugh officiating.

No visitation is planned.

Memorials are suggested to Keosauqua United Methodist Church and can be left at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua or mailed to the family at 25748 Nickel Ave., Keosauqua 52565.

Mrs. BURKETT was born Oct. 4, 1922, in Bonaparte, the daughter of Roger and Nona STORY HORNBAKER. She married Richard W. BURKETT June 15, 1943, in Memphis, Missouri. He died May 27, 1979.

Mrs. BURKETT graduated from Bonaparte High School, attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls and taught in rural Van Buren County schools as well as in the Headstart Program.

She was a farm homemaker.

Mrs. BURKETT was a member of Keosauqua United Methodist Church.

Survivors include: one son, Roger BURKETT and wife Denise of Keosauqua; one daughter, Charlotte McNABB and husband Kevin in Bellevue, Nebraska; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Gayle HORNBAKER of Minnetonka, Minnesota; and two sisters, JoAnne BAXTER of Stronghurst, Illinois, and Carolyn OHLENDORF of Muscatine.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: one daughter, Caroline COLLINS; and two brothers, Cecil and Duane HORNBAKER.
