Monday, May 3, 1926, 1-6.“W. D. (D.B.) COOP, for a generation a merchant of Perlee, and well known over the county, died suddenly yesterday afternoon of apoplexy, at his home in Perlee. Interment in Antioch Cemetery. His only sister, Mrs. Mary BILLINGSLEY of Pasadena, Calif. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, Wade and Glen COOP, and Hazel, all of Huntley, Mont. Born in Penn township Mar. 12 1862 and had lived there nearly all his life, the exception being for some years when he was a boy and made his home with his grandfather in Taylor County. He had been in business in Perlee for 35 years, having seen that town in the height of its prosperity…..married Miss Mary ORIARTY June 10 1909. No children.”

Friday, May 7, 1926, 6-1.“Douglas B. Coop was born March 11, 1862, son of J. Samuel and Anne BLAKELY COOP, on a farm in Penn township, Jefferson County, Iowa. He went with his parents in 1872 to Jasper Co., Mo., and lived there two years. His mother dying Nov. 30 1874 he and his sister, now Mrs. May BILLINGSLEY of Pasadena, Calif., were taken into the home of their grandfather, Charles BLAKELY, with whom he went in 1876 to Taylor County, Iowa, living there until in young manhood he returned to this county…..Genial in his contacts, he possessed in a marked degree the sterling virtues…..”
