Clara V. SHELANGOSKI

Clara V. SHELANGOSKI, 99, of Brighton, died early Sunday November 16, 2014, at McCreedy Home in Washington.

She was born July 24, 1915, near Pleasant Plain to Martin and Mary Ann WYSOSKE DRZYCIMSKI. Clara grew up in the Pleasant Plain area and attended Pleasant Plain schools. She married Richard L. SHELANGOSKI July 28, 1935, in Polishville. He died November 22, 1968.

Clara helped her husband farm, worked at Maple Crest Turkey Plant in Kalona, helped operate Rich and Clara's Place in Brighton for over 26 years, then worked at Crane Company in Washington for 10 years. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain, a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, and a member of the VFW Auxiliary in Fairfield.

Clara is survived by two sons: Robert SHELANGOSKI and his wife Carrol and Paul SHELANGOSKI and his wife Connie both of Brighton, 7 grandchildren: Joe GOODELL (Korey), Robin SCHULTY (Bob), Roberta SIEREN (Ryan), Michael SHELANGOSKI, Toni SANDEL, Kevin SCHOOLEY and Tricia SCHOOLEY and 10 great grandchildren: Felicia and Spencer SCHULTY, Abigail, Wyatt, Justin and Hailey SIEREN, Japonica CRUISE (Rob), Hannah COURTNEY, Desirae HESSELTINE and Keenan SCHOOLEY and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons: Lawrence and James, one granddaughter, Cynthia SCHOOLEY HESSELTINE, one brother Dominic DRZYCIMSKI, and three sisters: Gertrude FELCYN, Jane DRZYCIMSKI HAMILTON and Barbara MOSINSKI.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. Wednesday November 19, 2014, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain with Rev. Robert Striegel officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in East Pleasant Plain. Visitation at the church will be 5-7 P.M. Tuesday evening November 18, 2014, with Prayers for a Christian Wake at 7 P.M. followed by a Rosary. A memorial for St Joseph Cemetery Association may be left at the church or mailed to the family at PO Box 313, Brighton, IA 52540.

Arrangements are in the care of Gould Funeral Home of Brighton.
