Leo C. 'Chuck' POWELL

Leo C. "Chuck" POWELL, 41, of Keosauqua, died at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014, at Kavanagh House in Des Moines.

The funeral is planned for 1 p.m. Friday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with Larry Shipley officiating. Burial will be in Purdom Cemetery in Keosauqua (note: in Van Buren Co., IA).

Visitation will open at 3 p.m. Thursday, with family present from 5-7 p.m., at the funeral home. Memorials to his children's education can be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at PO Box 246, Keosauqua 52565.

Mr. POWELL was born May 27, 1973, in Keosauqua, the son of Leo W. and Deborah L. STEIN POWELL. He married Shaena LARSKI April 15, 2000, at Keosauqua Congregational Church. They later divorced.

Mr. POWELL spent all of his life in Keosauqua where he worked for 12 years as a carpenter at Hill Phoenix and most recently at TigerHawk.

He was a member of Keosauqua Congregational Church.

He enjoyed working with youth in the community as an umpire, Cub Scout leader and youth wrestling coach assistant. He supported his boys, nieces and nephews in their activities.

In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking and being a Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.

Survivors include: his parents; two sons, Gavin and Elijah POWELL both of Keosauqua; one sister, Kelly LOEFFLER of Keosauqua; and one brother, Andrew POWELL of Las Vegas.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Leo Sr. and Dorothy POWELL and Charley and Mary STEIN.
