DEATH OF MRS. KURTZ.

Bertha, wife of Joseph KURTZ, Sr., died at their home farm, one half mile east of Germanville Friday morning Aug. 6 at 10 o'clock, aged 59 years. Bertha RAPPENNEGGER was born in Baden, Germany Aug. 6, 1838, came to this country in 1858 and was married to Joseph KURTZ in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Apr. 19, 1860. They immediately moved to the farm near Germanville which has been the family home ever since, though several other farms have, by industry and economy, since been added to their possessions as they prospered in this world's goods.

A husband and eight children survive, 5 sons and three daughters, all single except one, Mrs. Joseph BENDA. One son, Edward M., was in Topeka, Kansas, where he is an attendant in the asylum, and was summoned home by telegram to attend the funeral. The other children were all at home at the time of her death...Her two sisters, Mrs. August HETTICK of Mt Pleasant, and Mrs. Martha DILGER, and her daughter FANNY, of Quincy, Ill., happened to be present on a visit at the time, having arrived several days before.

Deceased has long been a member of the St. Peter's and Paul's Catholic Church near Germanville, and the funeral took place from there at 10 o'clock Sunday, services conducted by her priest, Rev. Father Kominick, and attended by a very large congregation of friends...
