William J. RICHMOND

William J. RICHMOND, 74, of St. Patrick/Canton, Missouri, died Friday, Oct. 31, 2014, in a two-vehicle accident at the junction of highways 136 and 81 in Kahoka.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday at the Shrine of St. Patrick, Missouri. Burial, with full military honors, was in St. Patrick Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the St. Patrick Cemetery or the Mississippi Valley Council, Boy Scouts of America Shooting Sports Program.

Wilson Funeral Service in Kahoka, Missouri, assisted with arrangements.

Mr. RICHMOND was born Nov. 1, 1939, in Hannibal, the son of Robert Steele and Margaret Irene O'DONNELL RICHMOND. He married Norma RINEY Feb. 12, 1966, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hannibal.

He graduated from McCooey High School in Hanibal with the Class of 1957.

A U. S. Air Force veteran, he served from 1961-1981 spending time in Germany, Spain, England, with three tours in Southeast Asia and several stateside assignments.

Following his retirement from the Air Force, he and his wife moved to St. Patrick, where he owned and operated St. Patrick Meat Processing from 1982 until he retired in 2003.

He was a member of the Shrine of St. Patrick and was a 4th degree Knights of Columbus. He taught a religion class at church.

He was a member of the Otto Bruner Post of the American Legion at Canton. He was a 64-year member of the Boy Scouts of America, a scout master and a recipient of the Silver Beaver Award and Vigil Honor member of the Boy Scouts of America, Order of the Arrow. He served many years on the camp staff of Camp Eastman Boy Scout Camp near Hamilton, Illinois.

He was a school volunteer and presented programs on Indians in Missouri.

Survivors include: his wife; three sons: Shawn and Laura RICHMOND of Fairfield, Heath and Kathy RICHMOND of Ursa, Illinois, and Jason RICHMOND of Fort Madison; one daughter, Alyce and Monty McAFEE of Kahoka; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers, David RICHMOND of St. Louis and Tom RICHMOND of Hannibal; and two sisters, Pat EBERS of Hannibal and Jean BUCKMAN of Palmyra, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, James and Bob RICHMOND.
