Wilbur Merle BAKER, 68, 409 North B Street, died at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Nelson Nursing Home where he had been a patient since Oct. 2. He had been in failing health for some time.
Last rites will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Ned Gillum officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Wilbur Merle BAKER was born Aug. 8, 1905, in Jefferson County. He was the son of Guy and Maude IRELAND BAKER, and was reared and educated in the Fairfield Community.
BAKER was a farmer for a time and later employed by the Fairfield Community School District for a number of years. He was a member of the First Christian Church where he served on the church board.
He was married to Beulah BURNETT March 10, 1929. Later he was married to Helen MYERS Feb. 20, 1943 in Missouri.
BAKER is survived by his widow, Helen; one daughter, Mrs. Earl ABBEY, Jr., Fairfield; one son, Robert BAKER, Knoxville, Tenn.; two step-daughters, Mrs. Stanley SIMMONS, Fairfield, and Mrs. Gary McGLOTHLEN, Packwood; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Admin. note: First wife Beulah is buried in Evergreen Cemetery as well, in lot 2nd.273. Wilbur is buried with second wife Helen in Lot 3rd.021. Helen was married twice, with Wilbur being her second marriage; her first husband was Elmore MYERS, and her maiden name was STATER.
