Bruce D. NIXON

Bruce D. NIXON, 69, of Davenport, Iowa, died Monday, Oct. 27, 2014 at his home.

Memorial services in celebration of his life will be held at 10 AM Friday, October 31st at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly at Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport.

His visitation will be held from 3-6 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Bruce was born in 1945 in Fairfield, Iowa to Ralph and Janan (SCHROEDER) NIXON. He married Cindy RICHARD on May 1, 1971 in Fairfield, Iowa.

For six years he served with the Army National Guard. Bruce retired after 30 years from John Deere Davenport Works in 2004.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, researching his ancestry, music and creating the annual family calendar with pictures.

Survivors include his wife Cindy; sons Dan (Michelle MATTHEWS) NIXON and Doug (Mercedes DIAZ) NIXON; mother Janan NIXON; mother-in-law Phylis RICHARD; brother Craig (Barb) NIXON; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Mike and Fen RICHARD; sister-in-law Kim RICHARD; aunts Jean SIX and Pat DESPAIN; numerous nephews and cousins; his walking buddies Molly and Rosie; and his grand-puppies, Bailey, Gizmo, Chubby and Cecelia.

He was preceded in death by his father.
