Charles R. "Chuck" ELDER, 58, of Denver, Colo., and formerly of Fairfield died of cancer at 2 p.m. Monday, May 24, 2004, at his home.
The funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Peterson officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:30-8 p.m. Friday at Raymond Funeral Home.
A memorial has been established in Mr. ELDER's name.
Mr. ELDER was born June 14, 1945, in Biloxi, Miss., the son of Junior Eugene and Lillian Elaine TOWNLEY ELDER. He married Jane RICHARDSON Oct. 15, 1977, at First United Methodist Church.
Mr. ELDER grew up in the Fairfield community, graduating from Fairfield High School with the class of 1963. He lived in Fairfield until moving to Florida in 1978. He moved to Denver in 1980.
Mr. ELDER served in the U.S. Air Force in Vietnam, where he served with the Eddie Rickenbacker 94th Aero Squadron.
He received his private pilot license, his commercial/ multi-engine ratings and his diploma for completion of Lear Jet Ground School at Burnside-Ott Aviation Training Center in Miami, Fla.
He worked for United Airlines until his retirement due to ill health.
Survivors include one daughter, Tina Lynn CAMPBELL of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two brothers, Jim ELDER of Batavia and David ELDER of Evansdale, Ind.; and one sister, Deborah LINDQUIST of Agency.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Gary ELDER.
