Hold Funeral Saturday For Milton D. HAMMOND

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at the Schutte Funeral Home for Milton Duane HAMMOND, aged four, who had passed away last Wednesday morning at the home of his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer EBERLING, in Grand Meadow township, where he had made his home since coming here with his sister and brothers from Missouri last fall. The Rev. Frederick R. Ludwig conducted the services and interment was in Postville cemetery*.

Milton was born December 18, 1939 at Farmington, Iowa, the son of Roy HAMMOND and Mabel BRAY HAMMOND, former Postville residents. His brief lifetime was spent in Iowa, Arkansas and Missouri, in which states the family lived while the father followed the occupation of a farmer. His mother passed away in Arkansas in March; 1943, and the father died in Jericho Springs, Mo., last November.

Surviving are his sister, Marian Helene, who makes her home with Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth KOTH; three brothers, Marvin Dean, living with Mr. and Mrs. Verne KOTH; Milo Eugene, who lives with Mr. and Mrs. Rolan HEINS, and Merle Wayne living with Mr. and Mrs. Herbert SCHLITTER at Monona. Also surviving are his grandmother, Mrs. John BRAY of Postville.

*Gravestone is in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, not in the Postville cemetery; it is beside the monument of Kenneth and Marian STORY in Lot 6th.011.

~Note: See the query (link below) - he apparently was reinterred in Evergreen cemetery, Fairfield, Jefferson Co. Iowa on Sept. 9, 2014.
